Consett Shirt Tales
Consett Library 2nd February to 27th April
The Consett Empire has been at the heart of artistic life in the town for generations. Consett Shirt Tales celebrates the people who have kept the Empire alive, primarily through the amateur and non-professional performances that have taken place at the theatre. I have collaborated with broadcaster and journalist Brian Clough, who has provided recordings that celebrate Ruth Reid, who was a lead performer with the CBS, Judith Adamson, who joined the theatre in its centenary year and went on to become one of the Theatre Projectionists, and Doug Wray, who was famous in the region for both his performances as dame in various pantos, and for championing brass band music.
I am currently collecting stories about the Empire. If you have something to share please email rbliss1@mac.com
